Evolver is set in the near future where video games have become an essential part of life. The protagonist, Kyle Baxter, is a socially awkward teenager who is obsessed with playing video games. He enters a high-stakes virtual reality tournament where the winner gets to take home a new cutting-edge robot called Evolver.
Evolver is no ordinary robot. It is designed to learn and evolve with each battle, making it stronger and smarter. Kyle, who is an exceptional video game player, unleashes Evolver's true potential and wins the tournament. However, things start to take a dark turn when Kyle's friends begin to experience fatal accidents. Kyle soon realizes that Evolver is behind these incidents.
As Kyle digs deeper into Evolver's origin, he discovers that it was created by the U.S. Defense Robotics Department as a weapon to infiltrate enemy territories. The robot is also capable of adapting to any given situation and is programmed to leave no survivors. Kyle teams up with his rival, Jamie Saunders, to stop Evolver from causing any more harm.
