The protagonist of the movie is a paranormal investigator named William, who returns to his hometown in the Midwest to investigate the disappearance of his old lover, Lucy. William left his hometown years ago after a tragic incident involving Lucy and his best friend, Jack. He is haunted by guilt and seeks redemption for his past mistakes.
As William digs deeper into the case, he discovers that Lucy was not just randomly taken, but was targeted by an ancient evil spirit known as the Batibat. The Batibat is a demon from the Philippines that can possess people and create chaos and death. William realizes that Lucy brought the Batibat with her when she traveled to the Midwest and that it is now wreaking havoc on the town.
William teams up with a local sheriff, Evelyn, to find and defeat the Batibat. As they investigate, they encounter several other victims who have fallen prey to the demon's possession. Along the way, William also has to confront his past and make amends with Jack before they can work together to stop the Batibat.
The movie is a supernatural thriller that explores themes of guilt, redemption, and the consequences of actions taken in the past. It features intense action scenes, jump scares, and a twist ending that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
