The movie begins with a shipwrecked man, who later reveals himself to be Dracula, being forced to spit on the cross and wander alone in the desert. He eventually drinks the blood of a local teenager, Keiko, and acquires a taste for it. The movie then fast-forwards to present day, where Professor Shiraki arrives at a girl's school where he was to be teaching.
The principal, whose wife died in a car accident, asks Shiraki to take over for him. Shiraki soon becomes suspicious of the principal's actions, especially when he discovers that the principal is keeping his wife in the cellar for a week, supposedly according to local custom, to see if she might return to life.
Shiraki investigates further and discovers that the principal and his wife are actually vampires, and that they have been turning the students at the school into vampires too. Three girls, including Keiko's granddaughter, are caught up in the horror, as one of them has already been bitten, and her roommates stay to care for her.
Shiraki and the girls team up to try and defeat the vampires, and they eventually succeed after a climactic battle in the school's chapel. Throughout the movie, there are plenty of scenes of vampire attacks, blood-sucking, and gore, as well as a series of bizarre dream sequences that hint at the supernatural forces at play.
