The movie EverAfter is a retelling of the classic fairy tale Cinderella, set in 16th century France. Danielle, played by Drew Barrymore, is a young woman who is mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters after her father's death. She finds solace in her love of books and her friendship with Gustave, a fellow servant.

One day, Danielle encounters Prince Henry, played by Dougray Scott, who is escaping from his royal duties and pretending to be a commoner. She accidentally throws an apple at him, not realizing he is the prince, and he becomes smitten with her even though she initially refuses to acknowledge his advances.

As Danielle navigates her difficult life as a servant and deals with the jealousy of her stepfamily, Prince Henry becomes determined to find her again and learns the truth about her circumstances. With the help of Leonardo da Vinci, who is portrayed as a friend and mentor to Danielle, the two star-crossed lovers overcome obstacles and ultimately find their happily ever after.

The movie is acclaimed for its feminist twist on the classic fairy tale, as Danielle is portrayed as a strong and intelligent woman who refuses to submit to the traditional gender roles of her time. The chemistry between Barrymore and Scott is also a highlight of the film, along with the stunning costumes and scenery.
