Action,Western,Drama  United States of America

Escape from Fort Bravo is a 1953 American Western film directed by John Sturges and starring William Holden and Eleanor Parker. Set during the American Civil War, the film tells the story of a Union captain, Roper, who is tasked with running a prison camp for Confederate soldiers in the Arizona desert. The camp, known as Fort Bravo, is located deep in Apache territory and is heavily guarded to prevent any escapes.

One day, a group of Confederate prisoners, led by Captain John Marsh, manages to break out of the camp and flee into the desert. Roper leads a group of soldiers in hot pursuit, determined to recapture the escapees before they can reach safety. However, the Union soldiers are soon ambushed by Apache warriors, and Roper is forced to call off the chase.

Meanwhile, Marsh and his men make their way to a nearby ranch, where they are offered food and shelter by the owner's daughter, Carla Forester (Parker). Despite her loyalties lying with the Union, Carla is drawn to the charismatic Marsh, and the two begin a tentative romance.

However, their happiness is short-lived, as Roper and his men soon track the fugitives to the ranch, leading to a tense stand-off between the Union and Confederate soldiers. As tensions rise and allegiances shift, Carla must decide where her loyalties truly lie, and whether she is willing to risk everything for the man she loves.

Escape from Fort Bravo was praised for its stunning desert vistas, as well as its strong performances from Holden, Parker, and Forsythe. It remains a classic of the Western genre and is considered one of Sturges' most accomplished films.
