Ernest & Celestine is a 2012 animated film based on the book series by Belgian author and illustrator Gabrielle Vincent. The movie is directed by Stéphane Aubier, Vincent Patar, and Benjamin Renner and features the voices of Forest Whitaker, Mackenzie Foy, and Paul Giamatti.

The film is set in a world where bears and mice live in separate communities and are taught to fear and distrust each other. Celestine is a young mouse who dreams of becoming an artist instead of following in her family's footsteps and becoming a dentist. Ernest is a struggling musician and street performer who lives on the fringes of bear society.

When Celestine is caught trying to steal a bear's teeth for her dentistry apprenticeship, she is chased by the bear police and ends up hiding in a garbage can where she meets Ernest. Despite their initial animosity, the two become unlikely friends and decide to continue stealing together to survive.

Their crimes eventually catch up with them and they are forced to flee to the countryside where they hide out in a cabin and create art together. Their peaceful existence is interrupted when the bear police discover their hiding place and chase them again.

In the end, Celestine and Ernest are able to prove that bears and mice can coexist peacefully by sharing their art with the world. The film is a heartwarming tale of unlikely friendship, creativity, and challenging societal norms.
