Equinox is a 1970 horror film directed by Jack Woods and Dennis Muren. The story follows four friends who come across a strange book in the woods during a picnic. Unbeknownst to them, the book contains powerful mystic information that attracts the attention of a demonic force.

The four friends are played by Edward Connell, Barbara Hewitt, Frank Bonner, and Robin Christopher. After discovering the book and taking it home with them, they begin to experience strange and terrifying occurrences. They are then contacted by a man named Asmodeus, who warns them that they have unleashed an evil force that could destroy the world.

Asmodeus is played by Fritz Leiber Jr., who also appears in a 16mm amateur short film filmed in 1965 and incorporated into the movie. The film was made by Dennis Muren and Mark Thomas McGee and features Leiber as a professor studying the occult.

The friends must navigate their way through a world of evil that overlaps our own, battling demons and other supernatural creatures in order to prevent the book from falling into the wrong hands. Equinox is known for its innovative special effects work, which was done on a shoestring budget and helped launch the careers of several filmmakers, including Muren and McGee. Despite its low budget, the film has gained a cult following and is considered a classic of the horror genre.
