The movie Enemy Mine was released in 1985 and directed by Wolfgang Petersen. It stars Dennis Quaid as the human soldier, Willis Davidge, and Louis Gossett Jr. as the alien, Jeriba Shigan.

The story is set in the future where Earth is engaged in a war with an alien race called the Dracs. During a battle, Davidge's spacecraft is shot down and he crash-lands on a hostile planet. He discovers that Jeriba, a Drac, has also crash-landed on the planet. Initially, they are hostile towards each other, but as they realize that they need each other to survive on the planet, they form a reluctant alliance.

Jeriba, or "Jerry", as Davidge calls him, reveals to Davidge that the Dracs reproduce asexually and that he is pregnant. Davidge helps Jeriba give birth to a baby Drac. Davidge learns more about the Drac culture and begins to respect their way of life. Jeriba teaches him their language and they become friends.

Years pass, and they are still stuck on the planet, fighting for survival. Davidge builds a shelter, hunts for food, and teaches Jerry's son, Zammis, how to fly a spaceship. However, their friendship is tested when a rescue team finally arrives on the planet and Davidge wants to leave with them, but Jerry and Zammis want to stay behind.

As they part ways, Davidge realizes that he has developed feelings for Jerry and that they have become family. He tells Zammis that he will always be considered an uncle to him, and that he had a friend in his father.

The movie was well-received by critics and audiences and is considered a classic sci-fi film. It explores themes of friendship, tolerance, and acceptance of other cultures.
