"Enemies, A Love Story" is a 1989 film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Isaac Bashevis Singer. The movie follows the story of Herman Broder, a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust who escaped from Poland during the war and settled in New York. Years later, he is living a secret double life with three different women.

First, there is Tamara, his current wife, who he has hired as his assistant and who he is having an affair with. Second, there is Masha, a married woman who he has been reunited with and who he is also having an affair with. Lastly, there is Yadwiga, a simple-minded young woman from Poland who he married in order to get a green card.

As Herman tries to navigate his complicated relationships with each woman, he is haunted by the ghost of his first wife, Esther, who he believes died in a concentration camp during the war. However, as the story unfolds, it is revealed that Esther is alive and living in New York, and Herman must confront the secrets and lies he has been keeping from all three of his wives.

The movie is a poignant exploration of love, loss, and betrayal, set against the backdrop of post-war America and the Jewish immigrant experience. The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Anjelica Huston's portrayal of Tamara.
