After securing the basket, the men attempt to bring the balloon down safely, but an unexpected gust of wind causes the balloon to lift off again with the men still attached to the rope. As they are lifted higher and higher into the air, the men realize that they are running out of options. Joe makes the difficult decision to cut himself loose, while the others hold on for dear life.
The balloon eventually crashes, killing one of the men and leaving the others traumatized. Joe and another witness, Jed, find themselves drawn together in their shared experience.
