Encanto is an upcoming animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The film is directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, and co-directed by Charise Castro Smith. The music is composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The movie is set in Colombia and follows the lives of the Madrigal family who possess magical abilities bestowed upon them by the Encanto, a magical place hidden in the mountains. However, the encanto is under threat of fading away, and the Madrigals must use their unique abilities to save it.
Mirabel, the protagonist, appears to be the only member of her family who does not possess any magical ability. Her decision to help her family and the Encanto becomes a turning point in her life as she discovers her true purpose and the strength of her family's bond.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel, Lin-Manuel Miranda as the voice of Mirabel's grandfather, and Wilmer Valderrama as the voice of Pedro, one of the Madrigal brothers. The film's soundtrack will include original songs from Miranda, who previously composed the music for Disney's Moana and the Broadway musical Hamilton.
