Empire Records is a 1995 American coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by Allan Moyle. The film follows a group of employees working at Empire Records, an independent record store in Delaware, as they face the possibility of the store being bought out by a large chain.

The store manager, Joe (Anthony LaPaglia), is trying to keep the store afloat while dealing with the erratic behavior of some of the employees, including Lucas (Rory Cochrane), who loses the store's profits on a risky bet and then tries to win the money back before Joe discovers the loss. Meanwhile, the other employees struggle with their own personal and professional problems, including Corey (Liv Tyler), who is trying to get into Harvard and loses her nerve when she meets with a college representative; and A.J. (Johnny Whitworth), who is secretly in love with Corey but is afraid to express his feelings.

As the day goes on, the employees bond with each other and find new ways to try to save the store, including throwing a wild party in the store to raise money. They also confront Rex Manning (Maxwell Caulfield), a fading pop star who is making an appearance at the store and who they all despise. In the end, the employees come together to save the store and prevent it from being taken over by the chain.

Empire Records received mixed reviews from critics upon its release, but has since gained a cult following. The film's soundtrack, which features music from artists such as Gin Blossoms and The Cranberries, was also well-received and helped to popularize some of the songs featured in the film.
