The film Empire is a crime drama directed by Franc. Reyes and released in 2002. It stars John Leguizamo as Victor Rosa, the head of a drug syndicate in the Bronx. After years of running his business, Victor decides to leave the trade and start anew. That's when he meets Jack (played by Peter Sarsgaard), a young and wealthy stockbroker who offers Victor a chance to invest his money in a legitimate business.
Seeing this as a way out of the drug game, Victor agrees to the deal and starts investing Jack's money. However, things start to unravel when Victor discovers that Jack has been stealing his investments and siphoning it off to his own account. To make matters worse, Victor also finds out that his own gang members have been conspiring with Jack, jeopardizing the future of his empire.
With his dreams of a fresh start shattered, Victor is forced to take the law into his own hands. He sets out to bring down Jack and his co-conspirators, using all his street smarts and criminal connections to exact revenge. As the story unfolds, viewers are taken on a rollercoaster ride of crime, suspense and drama, as Victor fights to save his business and his life.
In addition to Leguizamo and Sarsgaard, the film also features a talented cast of actors, including Denise Richards, Isabella Rossellini, Domenick Lombardozzi, and Fat Joe. With its intense action sequences and gripping storyline, Empire is a must-see for fans of the crime genre.
