"Elegy" is a 2008 romantic drama film directed by Isabel Coixet and based on the novel "The Dying Animal" by Philip Roth. The film stars Ben Kingsley as David Kepesh, a cultural critic and college professor who has never settled down and avoids long-term relationships. He has a preference for beautiful and intelligent younger women, and Consuela Castillo, played by Penelope Cruz, becomes his latest love interest.

David and Consuela begin a passionate affair, but their relationship is complicated by their age difference and cultural differences – David is an older Jewish man, while Consuela is a young Cuban immigrant. David struggles with his possessiveness and jealousy, while Consuela is torn between her affection for David and her desire for independence.

As the relationship progresses, David's life starts to spin out of control. He tries to impose his own values and expectations on Consuela, but she refuses to conform to his ideas of how a woman should behave. Meanwhile, David's long-time friend Carol, played by Patricia Clarkson, tries to help him come to terms with his feelings for Consuela and his fear of aging.

The film explores themes such as love, sexual desire, aging, mortality, and cultural identity. It received mixed reviews from critics but was praised for the performances of Kingsley and Cruz.
