In the movie Edge of Darkness, Thomas Craven (played by Mel Gibson) is a veteran Boston-based detective whose world is turned upside down when his daughter Emma (played by Bojana Novakovic) is shot dead in front of his eyes on his own doorstep.
Initially, the police believe that Craven himself was the intended target, but as Craven delves deeper into the investigation, he begins to uncover shocking secrets about his daughter's life. Emma, it turns out, was a whistleblowing employee of Northmoor, a nuclear corporation with ties to the government.
Craven's search for answers takes him to Northmoor's headquarters, where he discovers evidence of corruption and a cover-up involving the highest levels of government. As he digs deeper, he becomes increasingly targeted by those who want to keep the truth under wraps, including a rogue government agent named Darius Jedburgh (played by Ray Winstone).
As Craven races against time to unravel the conspiracy and find his daughter's killer, he is forced to confront his own demons and re-evaluate his relationship with Emma, whom he realizes he never really knew.
Edge of Darkness is a gritty, fast-paced thriller that combines elements of a classic revenge story with a searing critique of corporate and political corruption.
