"Dwellers: The Curse of Pastor Stokes" is a low-budget horror movie that was released in 2021. The film is directed by DeShon Hardy and stars Tina Krause, Alan Bendich, and Erik-Steven Marcia.
The plot revolves around a group of teenagers who break into an abandoned church to party. However, they soon realize that the church is cursed by a past exorcism performed by Pastor Stokes. The demon, Malacoda, was banished from a young girl's body, but cursed the church and all those who enter it.
The teenagers soon become possessed by the demon, and it is up to Pastor Stokes to return and perform another exorcism to banish the demon for good. However, the demon is strong and determined to remain in the church and continue banishing those who disturb its new home.
The movie is filmed as a found footage style horror with shaky camera work and dark, creepy lighting. The acting is mediocre, but the practical effects used for the demon possession scenes were well done. The film has received mixed reviews, with some praising its low-budget charm and others criticizing it for being too predictable and lacking genuine scares.
