Dust in the Wind is a coming-of-age drama film directed by Taiwanese filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien. The film follows the lives of A-yuan and A-yun as they leave their small mining town in search of better opportunities in Taipei.
Once in Taipei, A-yuan becomes an apprentice at a printing press during the day and attends night school in the evenings. A-yun works as a kitchen helper at a tailor's workshop. The two work long hours and have little time for themselves.
Despite their busy schedules, A-yuan and A-yun find time to explore Taipei and try to adjust to city life. They also begin to develop feelings for each other and become a couple. However, their relationship and their lives are complicated by the harsh realities of urban life, including poverty, isolation, and uncertain futures.
As the story unfolds, A-yuan and A-yun struggle to find their place in the world and to navigate their changing relationship. They are forced to confront the challenges of growing up and the limitations imposed by their social and economic status.
