The movie Dungeons & Dragons: The Book of Vile Darkness is based on the popular role-playing game of the same name. The protagonist of the movie is a noble warrior named Grayson who is also a devout follower of the deity Pelor. Grayson's father, Eodred, who is also a Paladin of Pelor, has been kidnapped by the evil Mind Flayer Shathrax.
Grayson sets out on a quest to rescue his father and stop Shathrax from unleashing his evil plans on the world. Along the way, he meets a group of villains led by a powerful sorceress named Tala. Despite his moral code, Grayson joins the group in order to gain their help in rescuing his father.
