Dublin Oldschool

Drama  Ireland

Dublin Oldschool is a 2018 Irish drama film directed by Dave Tynan, based on the play of the same name by Emmet Kirwan. The movie follows the story of Jason (played by Emmet Kirwan), a young DJ who spends his days partying and getting high on drugs. He takes the audience on a journey through the streets of Dublin, from the clubs and parties to the back alleys and squats where he finds himself in trouble with the law.

As Jason stumbles through his drug-induced haze, he meets a number of colourful characters, including his own brother Daniel (played by Ian Lloyd Anderson), who is homeless and addicted to heroin. Despite their differences and estrangement, the brothers bond over their shared love of music and their memories of growing up in Dublin.

Throughout the film, the audience is also taken on a tour of Dublin itself, from the graffiti-covered walls of the city's inner suburbs to the rolling hills of the surrounding countryside. The movie portrays the city as a place of contrasts, where wealth and poverty, tradition and modernity, and hope and despair coexist side by side.

Dublin Oldschool is a powerful and gripping film that explores themes of addiction, family, and the meaning of home. As Jason and Daniel struggle to reconnect and come to terms with their past, the movie offers a poignant and raw portrayal of life on the fringes of society. With its pulsing soundtrack and raw energy, Dublin Oldschool is a must-see for anyone interested in Irish cinema and culture.
