The movie Dual centers around the character of Sarah, a woman diagnosed with a terminal illness that has left her with only a few months to live. Faced with the prospect of leaving behind her loved ones, including her husband and two children, Sarah opts for a radical solution: to have herself cloned so that her clone can be a surrogate to her family after her death.

The cloning procedure is successful, but much to everyone's surprise, Sarah makes a miraculous recovery from her illness. However, her decision to have a clone creates a legal and ethical dilemma as she tries to have it decommissioned and shut down. The clone, who has developed independent consciousness and a sense of self, refuses to comply.

The situation escalates when the clone challenges Sarah to a duel to the death in order to prove that she is a legitimate and independent person deserving of her own life. The case heads to court, where a legal battle ensues over the rights and autonomy of the clone.

As the trial progresses, both Sarah and the clone struggle with their own identities and their place in the world. They must confront difficult questions about life, death, and what it means to be truly alive. In the end, their fate and the fate of their loved ones hang in the balance as the case heads to a climactic final showdown.
