Driving Lessons is a 2006 British comedy-drama film that tells the story of Ben, a shy, introverted teenager who tries to escape from the overpowering influence of his mother by taking a summer job as a personal assistant to a retired actress named Evie.

As the story unfolds, Ben begins to learn valuable life lessons from Evie, who takes him on unexpected adventures and introduces him to a world of possibilities he never knew existed. Along the way, he develops a close bond with her, which helps him to gain confidence and come out of his shell.

Despite facing various challenges and obstacles along the way, Ben perseveres with the help of Evie's guidance and encouragement. By the end of the movie, he learns to stand up for himself and make his own decisions, no longer feeling trapped under the control of his mother.

The movie stars Rupert Grint as Ben, Julie Walters as Evie, and Laura Linney as Ben's mother. It was directed by Jeremy Brock, who is best known for co-writing the screenplay for the movie The Last King of Scotland.
