Dredd is set in a future America known as Mega-City One, which spans from Boston to Washington D.C. The population is so densely packed that the city has become a violent and crime-ridden metropolis. The only ones maintaining order are the Judges, a select group of law enforcers who have the power to arrest, sentence, and execute criminals on the spot.

The film follows Judge Dredd, a tough and unyielding lawman who is feared by criminals and respected by his fellow Judges. When a new drug called Slo-Mo hits the streets of Mega-City One, Dredd and his rookie partner Anderson are sent to investigate a triple homicide at the Peach Trees apartment block. They discover that the building is controlled by the ruthless drug lord Ma-Ma, who uses Slo-Mo to exert her control over the population.

Dredd and Anderson find themselves trapped in the Peach Trees with no backup and a seemingly endless supply of heavily armed gang members standing between them and Ma-Ma. As they fight their way to the top of the building, Dredd and Anderson must use all of their skills and experience to survive and bring Ma-Ma to justice.

The film is a dark, gritty, and violent action thriller that stays true to the source material. It is directed by Pete Travis and stars Karl Urban as Judge Dredd, Olivia Thirlby as Anderson, and Lena Headey as Ma-Ma. The film received positive reviews for its brutal action, stylish visuals, and strong performances, but was a box office disappointment. However, it has since gained a cult following and is regarded as a fan favorite among comic book movie adaptations.
