Mystery of Departing Drama Friends

Comedy,Drama  United States of America

Dramarama is a coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by Jonathan Wysocki. The movie is set in 1994, and it follows a group of high school students in Southern California who are obsessed with putting on murder mystery parties. However, this is the last party they will have before they leave for college.

One of the friends, Gene (Nick Pugliese), is gay but hasn't come out to anyone except his best friend, Ally (Megan Suri). As the night goes on, Gene finds himself struggling with his feelings for his longtime crush, Oscar (Nico Greetham), and his fear of coming out to his friends.

The movie explores themes of identity, friendship, and the fear of change. As the friends come to terms with their impending separation and the unknowns that come with leaving high school, they begin to question their relationships with one another and what the future holds.

Dramarama features a talented cast of young actors, including Anna Grace Barlow, Danielle Kay, and Zak Henri. The film premiered at the Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Film Festival in August 2020 and has since received critical acclaim for its sincere and relatable depiction of teenage friendships.
