After the initial defeat, Goku begins to train harder than ever before with the help of Whis, who is revealed to be Beerus' teacher. Meanwhile, Beerus and Whis arrive on Earth and are welcomed by Bulma, Vegeta, and the gang, who throw a lavish party in their honor.
During the party, Beerus becomes infuriated when Buu eats all of the pudding he was saving for himself. The God of Destruction then demands that Earth's strongest warrior fight him once again, or else he will destroy the entire planet. Goku steps up to the challenge and begins a fierce battle with Beerus.
The two warriors are evenly matched until Goku taps into a new form, known as Super Saiyan God, which gives him the power to fight on par with Beerus. The fight between the two gods continues to escalate until they finally reach their limits and the universe is threatened with destruction.
In a striking turn of events, Beerus decides to spare Earth and its inhabitants, having been impressed by their bravery and fighting spirit. The Z-fighters rejoice and continue their festivities into the night, with Goku vowing to become even stronger in preparation for his next encounter with the God of Destruction.
