In Dr. Dolittle 3, Lisa Dolittle sends her 16-year-old daughter, Maya, to Durango, a dude ranch, for the summer. Maya is unhappy about being sent away and feels like she doesn't fit in with the other campers. However, she discovers that she has inherited her mother's ability to talk to animals and becomes friends with a horse named Lucky.
Maya soon learns that Durango is in danger of being taken over by a neighboring ranch owned by an unscrupulous businessman named Jud. Jud wants to develop Durango into a golf course and is willing to use any means necessary to get what he wants.
With the help of her animal friends, Maya sets out to save Durango. She discovers that the other campers also have special talents and together they form a plan to stop Jud from taking over the ranch.
In the end, Maya and her friends are successful in saving Durango and the campers learn important lessons about friendship, teamwork and the value of nature. Maya also learns to embrace her special gift and finds a sense of belonging at the ranch.
