The movie Down to Earth follows the story of Lance Barton (played by Chris Rock), a struggling comedian who dies before his time due to a bus accident. However, due to a mix-up in the afterlife, he is given a second chance at life and is reincarnated in the body of a wealthy businessman named Charles Wellington III.
Initially, Lance struggles to adapt to his new life as a pompous and unlikable businessman, but soon finds himself using his comedic talents to win over his associates and colleagues. Along the way, he meets and falls in love with a social activist named Sontee (played by Regina King). She helps him realize that his newfound wealth and success are not what truly matter in life.
As Lance becomes more involved in the lives of those around him, he begins to discover a plot by Charles Wellington III's scheming wife and her lover to take over the company. Lance, with the help of Sontee, takes on the challenge of stopping the plot and saving the company, all while trying to find his place in the world.
With an ensemble cast that includes Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Chazz Palminteri, Down to Earth is a heartwarming and hilarious film that showcases Chris Rock's talents as both a comedian and an actor.
