Double Jeopardy is a 1999 thriller film directed by Bruce Beresford. The movie stars Ashley Judd as Libby Parsons and Tommy Lee Jones as Travis Lehman. The screenplay was written by David Weisberg and Douglas S. Cook.

The movie follows the story of Libby Parsons, a happily married woman with a six-year-old son named Matty. While they are vacationing on a yacht, Libby wakes up to find her husband Nick missing and blood all over the deck. She is soon arrested and charged with his murder. Despite her claims of innocence, she is convicted and sentenced to six years in prison.

While in prison, Libby learns that her husband is alive and has faked his death to collect the insurance money and start a new life with his mistress, Angela. With the help of her parole officer, Travis Lehman, she is released from prison and sets out to find and kill her husband, as she cannot be tried again for the same crime due to double jeopardy laws.

Libby tracks down Nick and Angela to New Orleans and starts to plan her revenge. As she gets closer to Nick, she also starts to unravel a larger conspiracy involving Angela's ex-husband and a stolen boat.

The climax of the film takes place in the middle of a Mardi Gras parade, where Libby finally confronts Nick. The two struggle and Nick falls off a balcony to his death. Libby is cleared of any wrongdoing and allowed to live with her son again.

Overall, Double Jeopardy is a gripping thriller that explores the themes of betrayal, revenge, and justice. It received mixed reviews from critics but was a commercial success, grossing over $177 million at the box office.
