Don't Bother to Knock is a 1961 British comedy film directed by Cyril Frankel and written by Richard Levinson and William Link. The film stars Richard Todd, Nicole Maurey, and Elke Sommer.

The story follows David Garth (Todd), a travel agent in Edinburgh who loses his keys and his fiancé, Janet (Maurey), in one night. His friend, Claire (Sommer), finds the keys and decides to play a prank by making copies and attaching his address to them. As David travels across the continent on holiday, he gives the keys to several women he romances along the way.

Meanwhile, Janet calls David and rekindles their engagement over the phone. David arranges to meet her at his flat, not realizing that several of his former flings have made their way there as well. Chaos ensues as David tries to impress Janet and hide his past romances from her.

As the evening progresses, David's lies catch up with him, and he must come clean to Janet and his former lovers. In the end, he learns the importance of honesty and fidelity in relationships.

Overall, Don't Bother to Knock is a lighthearted comedy about love, trust, and the consequences of one's actions.
