Donnie Brasco is a crime drama film released in 1997. The movie is based on the true story of an FBI agent named Joseph D. Pistone, who infiltrates the Bonanno crime family in New York City in the late 1970s under the name Donnie Brasco.
Donnie Brasco (played by Johnny Depp) is a low-level agent who poses as a jewel thief in order to get close to the mafia. He is introduced to Lefty Ruggiero (played by Al Pacino), a veteran hitman who takes him under his wing and teaches him the ways of the mafia. As Donnie spends more time with Lefty and other members of the mob, he finds himself drawn to their camaraderie and loyalty.
