In the beginning of the short film, Donald is seen setting up his mechanical dog washer, which includes a large contraption with various hoses, brushes and sprayers. He then calls for Pluto to come and test it out. However, Pluto is hesitant and does not want to get into the washer.
To entice Pluto, Donald brings out a rubber bone and dangles it in front of the dog. Pluto becomes interested and tries to grab the bone, but accidentally activates the washer in the process. Water and soap begin to spray all over Pluto while Donald watches from a distance and laughs.
Pluto tries to escape the washer but is unsuccessful. As a result, Donald decides to switch the lure to a toy cat. Pluto becomes even more curious and chases after the cat, causing him to accidentally activate the washer again. At this point, Donald decides to step in and rescue Pluto.
However, in a comical turn of events, Donald accidentally falls into the washer himself. The brushes and soapy water scrub him clean while Pluto watches from the sidelines. Once the washer is turned off, Donald is left soaking wet and covered in soap suds.
To complete the drying process, Donald is then hung out on the clothesline along with Pluto's toy cat. The short film ends with Donald cursing his failed invention, while Pluto happily plays with the rubber bone he was initially lured with.
