In the movie Don, DCP DeSilva, played by veteran Bollywood actor Om Puri, is on a mission to bring down one of the most feared criminal empires in India, led by a man known only as Don. Don, played by Shah Rukh Khan, is a ruthless gangster who operates from Asia to Europe and is wanted in several countries.
While investigating Don's activities, DeSilva comes across a man named Vijay, played by Shah Rukh Khan again, who looks almost identical to Don. DeSilva sees this as an opportunity to infiltrate Don's gang and bring him to justice.
But things soon take a dangerous turn when DeSilva is killed in a bomb blast. Vijay, who is the only one who knows his true identity, is left in a precarious situation as he must now convince Don's gang that he is the boss himself, while also trying to evade the police.
The movie is a thrilling cat-and-mouse game between Vijay and the police, who are both after him for different reasons. It also features a romantic subplot between Vijay and a journalist, played by Priyanka Chopra.
Don was a huge commercial success when it released in 2006 and was later remade in 2011, with the same star cast except for Om Puri, who passed away in 2017. The movie is considered a classic of the action-thriller genre in Indian cinema.
