The struggling children's book author, known as Guy, and his daughter, named Sam, inherit a grand old house from a relative they never knew existed. Excited to have a fresh start, they move into the house, which is filled with antique furniture and strange heirlooms. While exploring the attic, they discover a collection of dolls that belonged to the previous owners. The dolls look innocent enough, but there's something creepy about them.
As Guy works on his latest book, Sam spends most of her time exploring the new house. She soon realizes that the dolls are not just ordinary toys. They seem to move on their own and whisper strange things to her at night. Sam tries to convince her father that the dolls are alive, but he dismisses her claims as childish fears.
As the days pass, strange things start to happen in the house. Objects move on their own, unexplainable noises fill the air, and the dolls become more aggressive. Guy and Sam finally start to take the supernatural activity seriously when their neighbors reveal that the previous owners of the house died under mysterious circumstances.
Desperate to protect his daughter, Guy starts to investigate the origins of the dolls. He discovers that they were made by a toymaker who was rumored to practice dark magic. The toymaker's creations were said to have the power to bring nightmares to life and even cause death.
Guy and Sam realize that they must destroy the dolls before it's too late. But the dolls won't go down without a fight. As the father and daughter battle the evil toys, they discover that the toymaker's dark magic is still very much alive and lurking in the shadows. The climax of the movie sees the two protagonists engaged in a fight for their lives with the sinister dolls, and they realise too late that the legend is true, and that the dolls are much more malevolent than they initially thought.
