The movie follows the story of Peter La Fleur, an easygoing gym owner who is struggling to keep his gym, Average Joe's, afloat. White Goodman, the narcissistic owner of Globo-Gym, a high-end fitness center, decides to take over Average Joe's after an unsuccessful attempt to buy it. La Fleur and his team of misfits, including a pirate, a wannabe ninja, and a guy who thinks he's a robot, come up with a plan to raise the money needed to save their gym.

They decide to enter a dodgeball tournament with a $50,000 prize. The only problem is that they are terrible at dodgeball, and they have to face Globo-Gym's skilled team of players. Luckily, they meet former dodgeball champion Patches O'Houlihan, who agrees to coach them and teach them the five D's of dodgeball: dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.

Throughout the tournament, the two teams face each other in increasingly intense games. Along the way, La Fleur falls for a member of the opposing team, Kate, who is also being manipulated by Goodman. Eventually, in a dramatic final showdown, La Fleur's team emerges victorious, saving their gym and earning the respect of their opponents.

The movie is filled with hilarious one-liners, absurd characters, and over-the-top action sequences. With its message of teamwork and the importance of standing up for what you believe in, DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story has become a beloved cult classic.
