Doctor Strange is a Marvel superhero film directed by Scott Derrickson and released in 2016. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, a talented but egotistical neurosurgeon who loses the use of his hands in a car accident. Driven to desperation, Strange seeks out a mystical order known as the Kamar-Taj in Nepal, where he meets a powerful sorcerer called the Ancient One, played by Tilda Swinton.
The Ancient One agrees to take Strange under her wing and teach him the ways of magic, which he initially scoffs at. He also forges a connection with the Ancient One's loyal disciple, Mordo, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, who also struggles with the consequences of magic and the balance between good and evil.
Doctor Strange is known for its stunning visual effects and mind-bending action sequences, which play with concepts like time manipulation and kaleidoscopic dimension-hopping.
