Disciples of the 36th Chamber is a martial arts film that was released in 1985. It is directed by Lau Kar-Leung and stars Gordon Liu as Fong Sai Yuk, who is a boastful and arrogant young man with exceptional martial arts skills. Fong's arrogance and disrespect towards a Manchu lord lead to him being hunted down, forcing him to seek refuge in the Shaolin Temple.

At the temple, Fong faces the challenge of training under Master San Te, who is renowned for creating the 36th Chamber of Shaolin. The 36 chambers are a series of increasingly difficult levels of martial arts training, with the final chamber being the ultimate test of skill and discipline.

Fong struggles with the rigorous training, often clashing with Master San Te over his impatience and eagerness to prove his abilities. However, over time Fong learns the true meaning of discipline and the importance of respect for his teachers and fellow students.

After many months of intense training, Fong receives a yellow robe from a governor, which grants him immunity from the Manchu. Fong is torn between his desire for personal glory and his loyalty to the Shaolin temple. He eventually decides to use his newfound immunity to help the Shaolin temple and its people.

Disciples of the 36th Chamber is known for its exceptional martial arts choreography and intricate fight scenes, as well as its themes of discipline, respect, and the importance of humility in martial arts training.
