Ernie is a mischievous young boy who loves getting himself into trouble. He is constantly at odds with his overprotective sister Julia, who worries about his safety constantly. Ernie's best friend Max is an inventor's son who often assists his father with his odd creations.
One day, while playing in Max's father's workshop, the trio accidentally activates a time machine and finds themselves transported back in time to the age of the dinosaurs. They meet a friendly T-Rex named Tyra and her playful son Dodger. Together, they embark on an adventure through the lush prehistoric jungle, encountering a variety of other creatures along the way.
However, not all of the dinosaurs they encounter are friendly. Tyra's evil rivals, including a sinister raptor named Scowler, are constantly scheming against them, making their journey all the more perilous.
Meanwhile, Max's father and Ernie and Julia's mother become increasingly concerned about the kids' safety and launch a rescue mission to bring them back home.
Despite the challenges they face, the group remains determined to stick together and make it back to their own time. Along the way, they learn valuable lessons about bravery, friendship, and the importance of family.
