Speckles, a tarbosaurus, is the leader of his pack until they are attacked by a pack of Gorgosaurs. In the ensuing battle, Speckles' mate and other children are killed. Only Junior, their youngest son, survives. Speckles takes on the responsibility of raising Junior and teaching him how to hunt, fight, and survive in the dangerous prehistoric world.
As Junior gets older, Speckles becomes increasingly concerned about his son's overconfidence and recklessness. One day, while out hunting, Junior is kidnapped by a group of pterosaurs. Speckles sets out on a perilous journey across dangerous terrain, battling other dinosaurs and surviving treacherous environments to find his son.
Along the way, Speckles meets a friendly stegosaurus named Blue, who offers to help him rescue Junior. Blue accompanies Speckles on his journey, and the two become close friends. They also encounter a sinister T-Rex named One-Eye, who is hellbent on stopping them from reaching their destination: Fire Mountain, the home of the pterosaurs who have taken Junior.
As they journey towards Fire Mountain, Speckles and Blue face a variety of challenges and obstacles, including treacherous cliffs, raging rivers, and other dangerous creatures. But despite the odds against them, Speckles remains determined to rescue his son and bring him home safely.
When they finally reach Fire Mountain, Speckles and Blue face an epic battle against the pterosaurs and their leader, a massive creature known as the Dragon King. But with his courage and determination, Speckles will stop at nothing to save his son and prove that he truly is the king of the dinosaurs.
