Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, also known as DDLJ, is a 1995 Bollywood romantic film directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by his father Yash Chopra. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan as Raj and Kajol as Simran, along with a stellar cast of supporting actors.

The story of DDLJ begins with Raj and Simran meeting on a train journey from London to Switzerland, where they find themselves in the same cabin. Despite initial tension due to their cultural differences, they develop a bond over time, only to part ways upon reaching their destination.

Simran is engaged to marry Kuljeet, the son of her father's friend in Punjab and has no say in the matter. Raj learns about this and goes to Punjab to convince Simran's father, Chaudhary Baldev Singh, to let his daughter marry for love rather than obligation.

Thus begins the battle between Raj and Simran's family, who are staunchly traditional and value arranged marriages and cultural practices. Raj must win over not only Simran but also her father, her strict aunt, and her overprotective fiancé to win her hand in marriage.

The film's plot is centered around love and cultural identity, exploring the conflict between Western and Indian values. It features iconic music and dance sequences, including the famous song "Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai" and the fan favorite "Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye."

DDLJ was a box office success and is one of the longest-running Indian films ever, with a theatrical run of over 25 years at Mumbai's Maratha Mandir cinema hall. It is considered a cultural phenomenon and a cult classic in Indian cinema, and heavily influenced the Bollywood romantic genre for years to come.
