The movie Diana follows the life of Princess Diana, formerly known as Lady Diana Spencer, during the last two years of her life. After her divorce from Prince Charles, Diana dedicates herself to humanitarian work, in particular, campaigning against the use of land mines. She brings worldwide attention to this issue and her efforts lead to the signing of the Ottawa Treaty, which bans the use of anti-personnel land mines.

Additionally, Diana begins a secret love affair with a Pakistani heart surgeon, Hasnat Khan. Despite their cultural differences and the intense public scrutiny surrounding Diana's private life, the two continue to see each other and fall deeply in love.

The movie portrays the challenges faced by Diana as she navigates her personal and public life, including her interactions with the media and her strained relationship with the royal family. Ultimately, the film portrays the tragic end of Diana's life in a 1997 car accident in Paris.
