War,Drama,History  United States of America

Devotion is a historical drama film set during the Korean War and follows the story of two US Navy pilots, Jesse L. Brown and Thomas J. Hudner Jr. Brown was the Navy's first African American fighter pilot, and Hudner was his wingman. The two men become close friends, and their bond is tested when they are called on a dangerous mission to provide air support for ground troops.

During the mission, Brown's plane is hit by enemy fire, and he crash-lands in enemy territory. Despite the risk, Hudner crash-lands his own plane in an attempt to rescue his friend. However, he realizes that Brown is trapped in the wreckage and cannot be saved. Hudner stays with Brown until he dies, and is ultimately rescued by a helicopter. Although he is hailed as a hero for his actions, Hudner is haunted by the loss of his friend.

The film explores themes of loyalty, friendship, and sacrifice amidst the horrors of war. It was directed by J.D. Dillard and stars Jonathan Majors as Thomas J. Hudner Jr., Glen Powell as Jesse L. Brown, and Pilou Asbæk as the commander of their aircraft carrier. It was released in 2021.
