The psychic reading that Alex agrees to is conducted by a mysterious woman named Baba. During the reading, Baba tells Alex that she is pregnant, which shocks and confuses Alex as she and Brian have been using protection. Baba also warns that Alex is in danger and that something dark is following her.
As the haunting experiences begin to escalate, Alex starts to investigate the history of her apartment and discovers that it was once a home for unwed mothers. She also learns that a woman named Mary was confined to the very room she now sleeps in. Mary died during childbirth and her baby was taken away, leading Alex to believe that Mary's restless spirit may be the cause of her torment.
