Detour to Terror is a 1980 American made-for-television thriller film directed by Michael O'Herlihy. The movie features a star-studded cast, including O.J. Simpson, Arte Johnson, and Maud Adams, and tells the story of a group of tourists traveling from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in a bus.

The journey is anything but smooth as the bus is ambushed by a group of three dune-buggy-driving criminals. The trio, consisting of a sadistic leader named Duke (played by Bruce Jenner), along with his girlfriend Dusty (played by Adrienne Barbeau) and their accomplice, Max (played by Simpson), board the bus and begin to terrorize the passengers, stealing their money and valuables and holding them hostage.

The situation takes a more sinister turn when the gang reveals their true motive: they plan to kidnap one of the passengers and hold them for a ransom of $5 million. As tensions rise, the passengers must work together to survive and try to find a way out of their frightening predicament.

Throughout the movie, the tension increases as the bus makes its way deeper into the desert, pursued by the dune-buggies and with no help in sight. The passengers' attempts to fight back against their captors are met with violence, with several characters meeting their demise throughout the film.

Ultimately, it is up to the few remaining passengers to outsmart the criminals and overcome the dangerous situation they have found themselves in. Detour to Terror is a heart-pumping thriller that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
