Detective James Knight is a skilled detective with a troubled past. He was stripped of his badge and sent to prison for excessive use of force during an encounter with a suspect. While in custody, Knight finds himself in the middle of a jailbreak led by The Christmas Bomber.
The Christmas Bomber is a ruthless fanatic who believes that society has lost its way and must be cleansed. He and his followers, dressed as Santa Claus, are causing chaos throughout the city, targeting malls, public spaces, and train stations. The police are unable to stop them, and the city is in a state of panic.
In the midst of the chaos, Knight is approached by the police commissioner with an offer. If he helps to take out The Christmas Bomber and his followers, he will be reinstated as a detective and given his badge back.
Knight agrees to the offer and begins working to track down the terrorists. But as he delves deeper into the case, he begins to question whether the police are actually able to protect the citizens of New York.
As he fights to take down The Christmas Bomber and his disciples, Knight is forced to confront his own demons, as well as the flaws in the justice system. Ultimately, he must decide whether to seek redemption or to abandon the system altogether.
