Detective Conan: The Last Wizard of the Century is a Japanese animated movie released in 1999. The story begins when the Suzuki Zaibatsu displays the rare Easter Egg made by the famous Russian jeweler February. However, Kaido Kido, also known as the Phantom thief Kid, sends a warning letter to the police that he would steal it. Inspector Ninzaburo Shiratori and his team, including Conan, attend the event to protect the egg.
During the event, Conan notices a woman who wears a hat and green dress. She reminds him of the character from an old film, The Scarlet Lipstick. Later, a group of robbers break into the exhibit, but they are stopped by the police. However, Kaido Kido (Phantom Thief Kid) appears and steals the egg while the police officers are distracted.
Conan realizes that the woman he saw earlier is related to the theft and starts to investigate her. He finds out that she is a famous actress, who played the lead role in The Scarlet Lipstick movie, and the egg was a prop used in that movie. The egg actually contains a secret map leading to a hidden treasure that belonged to the Romanov family.
Conan and his friends team up with Phantom Thief Kid to find the treasure before a group of terrorists, who were also after the treasure, get their hands on it. They go through multiple challenges and obstacles and ultimately find the treasure. In the end, Phantom Thief Kid reveals his true identity, and Conan promises to keep his secret safe.
The Last Wizard of the Century is considered as one of the most popular and successful movies in the Detective Conan series, earning over ¥3 billion at the box office.
