In Despicable Me 2, Gru is living a peaceful life with his three adopted daughters and Dr. Nefario, his loyal and quirky scientist assistant. However, things take a turn when a top-secret research facility, the Arctic Lab, is stolen by a secret, powerful villain who is using the stolen serum to transform innocent creatures into dangerous beasts. The Anti-Villain League (AVL) recruits Gru to help find and stop the mysterious villain.
As part of the AVL, Gru is partnered with Agent Lucy Wilde, who has great energy and enthusiasm but is also a bit unpredictable. Together, they go undercover at a shopping center to investigate a possible lead on the villain. However, their mission becomes complicated when Gru's eldest daughter, Margo, falls for the owner's son, Antonio. Meanwhile, Gru's other minions are being kidnapped, and he must find a way to rescue them before it's too late.
As Gru and Lucy investigate, they discover that the villain is none other than Eduardo, Gru's long-lost nemesis from his days as a young villain. Eduardo has been posing as the owner of the shopping center to hide his secret activities. With the help of his minions and new partner Lucy, Gru must stop Eduardo and his evil plans before it's too late.
