Desolation is a psychological thriller released in 2017, directed by Sam Patton and written by Matt Anderson and Michael Larson-Kangas. The story revolves around a mother named Abby (Jaimi Paige) and her son Sam (Toby Nichols), who decide to go on a hiking trip into a remote wilderness in Northern California to scatter the ashes of his father, Abby's late husband. The two are dealing with grief and trying to move on from the tragedy.
During their journey, they encounter a lone hiker with a mysterious past named Jenn (Alyshia Ochse) who starts following them. Initially, Abby and Sam welcome Jenn's company, but as the days progress, they start noticing strange behavior from her. They soon realize that Jenn is not what she seems, and her intentions may be harmful towards them.
As they continue hiking through the wilderness, their fear and paranoia increase, and they begin to question who they can trust.
