In the movie Demolition Man, Simon Phoenix, played by Wesley Snipes, is a notorious criminal who is frozen in a cryogenic prison in 1996. The film takes place in 2032, when society has become a utopia called San Angeles, where crime has been virtually eliminated.
During a parole hearing, Phoenix is unfrozen by a group of rebels who plan to use him to overthrow the peaceful society, but Phoenix quickly becomes uncontrollable and starts causing chaos in the city. The police, who are trained in non-violent tactics and have never dealt with such a dangerous criminal, are unable to catch Phoenix.
As a last resort, they unfreeze John Spartan, played by Sylvester Stallone, who was also cryogenically frozen in 1996 after being wrongly accused of killing innocent people while trying to apprehend Phoenix. Spartan, a tough cop from the past, is reluctant to help but eventually agrees to track down Phoenix.
With the help of a young officer named Lenina Huxley, played by Sandra Bullock, who is obsessed with the violent culture of the past, Spartan sets out to stop Phoenix and restore order to San Angeles. Along the way, they encounter various challenges, including a hostile underground society and a power-hungry politician who opposes Spartan's methods.
