Raging River: Wilderness Adventure

Drama,Adventure,Thriller  United States of America

Deliverance is a 1972 American thriller-drama film directed by John Boorman. The film is based on the 1970 novel of the same name by James Dickey. The movie follows four suburban businessmen from Atlanta as they embark on a weekend canoeing trip along the Cahulawassee River in North Georgia.

The group, comprised of the confident and experienced outdoorsman Lewis (Burt Reynolds), the flawed and undecided Ed (Jon Voight), the bossy and talkative Drew (Ronny Cox), and the conservative Bobby (Ned Beatty), soon find themselves lost and isolated in the heart of the wild countryside.

As the group struggles to navigate the treacherous rapids and deep passes of the river, they run afoul of a pair of violent locals, played memorably by Bill McKinney and Herbert "Cowboy" Coward, who terrorize and assault them in a sequence that has become one of the most infamous and disturbing in all of cinema.

As the weekend trip turns into a desperate fight for survival, the four men are tested by the brutal realities of the natural world and the harsh truths of their own characters. The final scenes of Deliverance are haunting and unforgettable, as the characters are forced to confront the cruelties and uncertainties of their fate, and the film leaves a lasting impression on its viewers.
