Deep Blue Sea 2 is a 2018 science fiction horror film and is a sequel to the 1999 film Deep Blue Sea. The film is directed by Darin Scott and stars Danielle Savre, Rob Mayes, and Michael Beach.
In the movie, Dr. Misty Calhoun (played by Savre), a shark conservationist, is invited by pharmaceutical billionaire Carl Durant (played by Beach) to consult on a secretive project. The project involves genetically modifying the DNA of bull sharks to increase their brain size, making them smarter and potentially unlocking cures for human diseases.
Dr. Calhoun agrees to help Durant, unaware that he plans to use the sharks as military weapons. However, things soon go wrong when the sharks become highly aggressive and unpredictable, which causes them to break free from their confinement and wreak havoc on the research facility.
As the sharks continue to attack the scientists and engineers, Dr. Calhoun and a team of marine experts must find a way to stop the sharks and prevent them from escaping into the ocean. Along the way, they also discover that one of the sharks has developed an extra-human level of intelligence and is coordinating the attacks.
The movie combines elements of science fiction and horror with intense action scenes and impressive visual effects. It also addresses themes of bioethics and the dangers of genetic experimentation.
