The four boys, Maps, Misty, Spit, and Spark, have grown up together in the convent and have become a tight-knit group. But as they see their younger friends being adopted one by one, they begin to worry that they are too old to ever find a family of their own.
The Reverend Mother decides to send the boys on a vacation to a remote beach town in the hopes of lifting their spirits. There, they meet Teresa and Fearless, a carefree couple who live in a caravan and seem to have endless love to give.
The boys quickly become enamored with the couple and begin to compete for their attention in hopes of being the one chosen to be adopted. Maps, the oldest and most mature of the group, seems to have the best chance of being chosen, but as the vacation wears on, the boys' friendships and loyalty to each other are put to the test.
As the end of the vacation approaches, the boys must come to terms with the fact that they may not all be chosen by Teresa and Fearless, and must decide what truly matters most to them: finding a family or staying true to their lifelong bond with each other.
